Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus (called the endometrium) grows outside of your uterus, where it doesn’t belong. More than 5 million people are affected by it in the U.S. It can cause painful periods, heavy bleeding, and can sometimes make it more difficult to get pregnant. There’s no cure for endometriosis, but treatment can help with the symptoms.
