When should I take the pill?

Someone asked us:
I take the pill form of birth control, I was wondering when would taking it be best? I used to just take them before I went to bed but I was told that I shouldn’t do that and to take them 2 or 3 hours before I eat so now I have to get up at 4:30 every morning to take my pill.
There’s no particular time of day that’s best to take your birth control pill. You definitely don’t need to wake up in the middle of the night to do it, and it doesn’t matter when you eat. It is a good idea to take your pill at the same time every day — but that can be anytime that works best for you.
So there’s no reason why you can’t take your birth control pill before going to bed. Any time of day is fine, as long as you’re taking it every day. Making your pill-time a part of your daily routine — like taking it when you brush your teeth or wake up in the morning — is still a good idea, since it makes forgetting a pill less likely. The most important thing is to find a time of day that works for you.
Here’s to a good night’s sleep.
