Spread the word: National HIV Testing Day is June 27!

Every day is a good day to take care of your sexual health, but June 27th is all about HIV testing. In honor of National HIV Testing Day, we created e-cards to help you spread the word and remind the people you care about most to get tested and know their status.

So why is HIV testing so important?

  • Most people with HIV don’t show symptoms for many years, but they can still transmit the virus to others.

  • About 1 in 6 people living with HIV don’t know they have it.

  • HIV is treatable. The sooner you know your status, the sooner you can take action to stay as healthy as possible and protect your partners.

Here’s the best part: HIV testing can be super quick, simple, and painless. Rapid HIV tests get you results in about 20 minutes, often with just a cheek swab.

You can get tested at your doctor’s office, community health centers, and Planned Parenthood — we do about 700,000 HIV tests a year, so we’re pretty good at it by now.

Finally, as always, don’t forget about protection! When it comes to HIV, putting a condom on before you get it on makes sex 10,000 times safer — and condoms are the only form of birth control that also prevents HIV and other STDs.
