Pride month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Riots, the event that sparked the modern LGBTQ rights movement. Today marks the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and Stormé DeLarverie were three key figures in the early LGBTQ movement and at the Stonewall Inn the night it all started in 1969. They dedicated their lives to working for the safety, inclusion, and rights of LGBTQ people.
