No one stops needing sexual and reproductive health care in a public health crisis. Abortion is an essential and time-sensitive medical procedure. Period. Our priority is the health and safety of the communities we serve, and ensuring patients still have access to time-sensitive, essential health care like abortion. The work of our compassionate and skilled health center staff makes it possible for us to provide patients with high-quality, confidential, and nonjudgmental care. Thank you for ensuring that the communities we serve get the best care possible every day.
Abortion providers are passionate, caring, skilled professionals who believe in the health, well-being, and dignity of the patients they see every day. To the doctors, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, health center staff, and volunteers who work every day to provide patients with access to safe and legal abortion: thank you.
“LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive rights are both rooted in the conviction that we control our own bodies; we decide what our families look like; and we should make our own health care decisions.”
“This is not complicated or political. When you have bodily autonomy and the freedom to get the health care you want, need and deserve, your whole world changes and you are able to thrive.”
47 years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, affirmed the right to safe and legal abortion. Now we’re standing strong to protect that right. Abortion is still legal in all 50 states. But every day we see new attacks, pushing access farther out of reach.
For many people, even with Roe v. Wade, the promise of reproductive freedom has never been realized. Reproductive freedom is tied to how much money you make, how much discrimination you face, and how many obstacles get in the way of your most basic human rights. Because of these barriers, abortion has always been out of reach for many people of color, people with low-incomes, and LGBTQ people.
The fight to protect and expand abortion access is far from over. As the battle for our rights continues, we call for agency, for compassion, for protection. We demand an end to stigma, an end to silence, and an end to shame.
