High-resThe fight for racial justice, economic equity, and reproductive freedom are undeniably intertwined. On Martin Luther King, Jr. day, we celebrate the leader who dedicated his life to ending oppression for Black communities. His courage, commitment to justice, and legacy continues to inspire and unite movements around the world.
High-resThe only way to know for sure if you have HIV is to get tested. You can’t tell if you have HIV just by the way you feel because most people who get HIV don’t have any symptoms for years. Luckily, HIV testing is pretty easy and quick.
The best part about getting tested for HIV? Once you get it over with, it can really put your mind at ease. And if you do have HIV, it’s best to find out early so that you can take medicines to help you stay healthy and lower your chances of spreading HIV to others.
I’m proud to be standing up for Planned Parenthood as they fight for fair and equal access to reproductive rights. We cannot live freely and move fully in the world when our basic right to access the reproductive health care we need is under attack. Every person deserves the right to control their body, their life, and their future.

High-resToday, on César Chávez Day, we stand in solidarity with the farm workers and allies who continue to fight for just, equitable work conditions. Planned Parenthood shares his belief in fair treatment for everyone. All people and their families deserve to live a safe, healthy, empowered life, regardless of where they live — no matter what.
The attacks on reproductive health care, they’re on women, they’re on immigrants, they’re on LGBTQ people, they’re on people of color, they’re on low-income people. They’re really on all of us. And that’s why we need to speak out, we need to fight back on these policies, and to understand, too, that an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us, and the consequence is people’s lives.

High-resHappy birthday to writer and activist Audre Lorde, who inspires and reminds us that our work does not exist in a vacuum. Our identities are vast — they overlap and intersect. Issues like racism, misogyny, and homophobia are connected, and the oppressive systems that work against some work against all. Planned Parenthood firmly believes in reproductive justice — the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, to decide whether or not to have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities (@SisterSong).
At Planned Parenthood, we recognize the imbalance of access to care that Black people experience, and commit to doing our part to provide better access to HIV education, prevention, and care for Black communities. Every community deserves to equitably benefit from the many advancements in HIV prevention and treatment that help people living with HIV have long, healthy lives.
Dr. Sara C. Flowers, VP of Education, Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Reproductive healthcare is not a luxury, and for Black women specifically, being in full control of our reproductive decisions can quite literally be a matter of life and death.
